Past Findings of the Discipline or Fitness To Practise Committee
Discipline Referral Date: April 9, 2008
AllegationIn summary, it is alleged that Mr. Ang engaged in a number of acts of professional misconduct by accepting $550.00 from a patient, Mrs. M, on account of dentures that were never provided to Mrs. M. Indeed, when Mrs. M. tried to complete her treatment with Mr. Ang, Mrs. M. discovered that Mr. Ang had moved his practice to an unknown location without providing forwarding information to Mrs. M. It was only after involving York Police that Mr. Ang returned the money to Mrs. M., although she never obtained her dentures.
It is therefore alleged that Mr. Ang engaged in professional misconduct within the meaning of paragraphs 2 (failing to maintain the standards of practice of the profession), 6 (discontinuing denturist services to a patient without adequate reason), 7 (failing to fulfill the terms of an agreement with a patient), 19 (failing to maintain records as required by the regulations), 23 (failing to make arrangements with a patient for the transfer of the patient's records), 24 (submitting an account or charge for services that the member knows or ought to know is false or misleasding), 26 (charging a fee that is excessive or unreasonable in relation to the services performed), and 47 (engaging in conduct relevant to the practice of denturism that, having regard to all of the circumstances, would reasonably be regarded by members as disgraceful, dishonourable, unethical or unprofessional) of section 1 of Ontario Regulation 854/93 under the Denturism Act of 1991.
