2012 Operational Review and Audit
In 2012, the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care engaged a third-party auditor to undertake a review of the operations of the CDO due to concerns by the Ministry that the CDO was not fulfilling its statutory duties under the Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991. The review focused on identifying and recommending improvements for correcting any deficiencies that were found in the operations, governance, and decision-making processes of the CDO.
In 2017, the Board of the CDO provided the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care with an update related to the status of action items identified in the 2012 operational review and audit.
2024 Third-Party Governance Assessment
In 2024, the CDO contracted a governance consultant and former supervisor of the CDO to undertake a voluntary third-party assessment of the Board's effectiveness and its focus and commitment to the public interest as a regulatory governing board. The assessment took place between September 2023 and June 2024. The final report was presented to Board at its September 2024 meeting.
