Step 1: Qualifying Examination Initial Application
Individuals who wish to attempt the Qualifying Examination for the first time are required to create an online profile and complete the online QE Initial Application, including payment of any applicable fees. This application is reviewed by the College to confirm that the educational requirement has been met. Online QE Initial Applications are accepted throughout the year.
Start your online QE Initial Application and create an online profile:
-
Please only complete this application once. You can return to your profile and update any information as necessary. Accidentally creating duplicate profiles will result in delays processing your application.
Required supporting documents to complete your QE Initial Application:
Scanned copies of the documents below (except for school transcripts) can be uploaded directly through your online profile:
- One (1) notarized copy of a valid government-issued identification:
- A notarized copy of your Passport, Permanent Resident Card, Work Permit, Driver's License, Ontario Photo ID Card, or Birth Certificate.
- Note: A notarized copy of a Canadian Passport, Permanent Resident Card, or Work Permit is preferred as it will be required after you successfully pass the Qualifying Examination and register for your license.
- One (1) Passport Photo taken within the last 12 months.
- Official Transcripts must be requested to be sent directly to the College from the academic institution - either through the academic institution's online records portal, or through MyCreds. Transcripts uploaded by applicants to the CDO Portal are not considered official.
Step 2: Qualifying Examination Registration
Following notification that the Qualifying Examination Initial Application has been approved, you may register to take the Qualifying Examination.
Please see the links below for more information about the Qualifying Examination fees and important dates & deadlines:
Registering for a Subsequent Attempt of the Qualifying Examination
If you are applying to take the Qualifying Examination after either withdrawing or having been unsuccessful at an attempt of the Qualifying Examination, you must re-register for the Qualifying Examination and submit the applicable fee. However, in most cases you are not required to re-submit a passport photo, official transcripts, or notarized identification from Step 1. The College may request an updated photo if your photo on file is outdated.
Exam Accommodations
If you have a temporary or permanent physical impairment, or any persistent cognitive, psychological, sensory or learning impairment which substantially limits your participation in one or both components of the Qualifying Examination, you may make a request for specific accommodation. Requests for specific accommodation must be submitted in writing to the Registrar and must accompany your registration for the Qualifying Examination. For more information, please review the College’s Qualifying Examination Special Needs Accommodation Policy.
