Update - Mario Mouamer - Notice of Criminal Proceedings

Mr. Mouamer was criminally charged with 17 counts of sexual assault on June 19, 2017 by the Windsor Police Service, contrary to section 271 of the Criminal Code of Canada. The College is aware that the matters are before the court and the College’s own investigation into these matters is on hold pending the outcome of the criminal proceedings.  The trial began February 10, 2020 and has been scheduled until February 28, 2020.  The trial is taking place at the Superior Court of Justice in Windsor, Ontario.  The College is following the trial closely and will provide pertinent updates should there be further concerns to public safety.
 
When the College became aware of the charges, it asked Mr. Mouamer to agree to the following terms, conditions, and limitations being placed on his Certificate of Registration.  Mr. Mouamer agreed on July 27, 2017:

The Member shall:
1) Notify the College of any and all employers, and shall notify the College if there is any change in personal or employment circumstances;
2) Advise any and all employers of these terms, conditions and limitations;
3) Abstain from conducting denturism services to any patient unless he is in the presence of a person that the Registrar has pre-approved;
4) Post a Sign with the following language in all treatment rooms and waiting rooms where he provides denturism services “Please note that Mario Mouamer cannot provide denturism services except in the presence of a person who has been pre-approved by the Registrar of the College of Denturists of Ontario.  For further details please review the College of Denturists website at www.denturists-cdo.com or call 1-888-236-4326”.
5) Advise the College of the status of the criminal proceeding, including any changes to the terms of his release, dates for trial and other court appearances, and any resolution of the charge.

The College has been doing periodic and unannounced visits on Mr. Mouamer to ensure that the terms are being met. The College has been reassured of compliance with these terms at each visit.
