Complaints & Reporting

The College of Denturists of Ontario takes all complaints that are brought forward seriously.  This is a critical part of being accountable as a self-regulated profession. Anyone – patients, family members, colleagues, employers, etc. – can contact the College if they have a concern about a Denturist’s conduct or practice. Sometimes, there is an obligation to report matters to the College.

The College’s processes are mandated by the Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991, that sets out the procedures that are followed when complaints and reports are investigated.

There are three ways to bring matters to the attention of the College

File a Formal Complaint

If you are not satisfied with the care or services provided by a Denturist, you may wish to file a formal complaint.  To ensure accuracy of the complaint details, a complaint must be submitted in writing.  The College will keep you informed throughout the process and notify you of the outcome of the investigation. Mandatory Reporting

If you are an employer, facility operator or a regulated health professional (including student or interns) you have a mandatory duty to report certain concerns that include suspicion of sexual abuse of a patient by a Denturist, professional misconduct, incapacity, and incompetence.


If you are a Denturist or applicant you are required to file a “self-report” with the College if you have been convicted of a criminal offence or have had a finding of professional negligence or malpractice against you by another professional regulatory body.
