Internationally Educated Individuals

Step 1: Qualifying Examination Initial Application

Individuals who have received their relevant education outside of Canada must submit a request for academic program assessment with the QE Initial Application.   Upon receipt of this request and required supporting documentation, the Registration Committee examines the academic program to determine if it is fundamentally equivalent to the program of study undertaken by individuals who receive a diploma in denturism from George Brown College.

         QE Initial Application Package

Below are the individual documents found in the QE Initial Application Package:

Academic Equivalency Assessment

In addition to the QE Initial Application outlined above, the following documentation is required for an Academic Equivalency Assessment:

  1. Form A1 - Academic Assessment Form (instructions included)
  2. Official transcripts (issued directly from the institution to the CDO)
  3. Official course descriptions/outlines/syllabi
  4. 3rd Party Credential Assessment, issued directly from the 3rd party to the CDO (please review the Credential Authentication Policy for details)

The results of the academic assessment are provided in writing approximately 4-6 weeks after the date a complete application is submitted. Individuals whose academic programs are deemed equivalent are then eligible to sit the next Qualifying Examination. If the Registration Committee determines that the educational program of an individual is not equivalent to a diploma in denturism offered by George Brown College, the Committee will provide the individual with recommendations that, once completed, will assist in meeting academic equivalency.

Step 2: Qualifying Examination Registration

Following notification that the Qualifying Examination Initial Application, including the academic equivalency assessment, has been approved, a candidate may register to take the Qualifying Examination.

        QE Registration Package

Please Note: Candidates who successfully complete the Qualifying Examination  must provide proof of Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or have an authorization under Canada’s Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, language proficiency, and good character, when the application for a Certificate of Registration is submitted.

Registering for a Subsequent Attempt of the Qualifying Examination

If you are applying to take the Qualifying Examination after either withdrawing or having been unsuccessful at an attempt of the exam, a completed QE Registration Form and the applicable fee are required.  However, you are not required to provide photographs, official transcripts, or proof of identification from Step 1.

If you are registering for a re-take of the examination, please include your CDO Candidate ID number.

Exam Accommodations

If you have a temporary or permanent physical impairment, or any persistent cognitive, psychological, sensory or learning impairment which substantially limits your participation in one or both components of the Qualifying Examination, you may make a request for specific accommodation.  Requests for specific accommodation are submitted in writing to the Registrar and accompany the Qualifying Examination Registration form. Details can be found in the College’s Qualifying Examination Special Needs Accommodation Policy
